Regarding Escaflowne, I was under the impression Funimation did a kickstarter in order to (re)dub that anime. Probably should have just replied to yours. Also I just noticed your previous thread mentioning this topic in passing. Good to see you again Lightning, in fact it looks like a lot of us old folks are coming out of the woodwork. But in the end, I really want X and Turn-A dubbed more than anything. If this leads to a Stargazer dub, that'd be neat. (I don't think it cleaned up how Kira got to the reverend's place, did it? That's still manga only, right? That part always bugged me.) I like parts of CE, and thought it should get its close-out movie, but I'm not in a hurry to double dip. I never finished either broadcast of the Remastered stuff, so I don't know if it's worth it or not for me. I was surprised at first, but I see how the recut/reworked footage could be of interest. Even if I hate the new dub, the sub version is still there.Īnyway, what do you guys think? I am a Seed fan so consider me tentatively excited, but I can imagine this could be exasperating for some of you. I love the original dub, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't planning on buying this once it gets released. Seed has always been pretty popular and there are enough new scenes to warrant a dub of the remastered versions of both Seed and Destiny.
Related to that: While I was sadly unable to see the Gundam Wing panel, I did stream watch the RightStuf/Nozomi Otakon Panel. Wv1hXQXiYk Maybe I misheard something.but even so, the model so far is showing that it could work with ARIA, which could give Sunrise more confidence to green light such an endeavor. I was pretty sure I heard it in this video, but I can't find it now. I'm having trouble finding that quote now, though. Within that scope, I thought I heard that Gundam titles could be a possibility if Sunrise approves. (Already funded at this point.) If this model proves successful, they might eventually apply it to other Nozomi titles. I touched on this in another thread, but here's how it goes: Nozomi/RightStuf is doing a Kickstarter for dubbing an anime called ARIA. However, anything that has never been dubbed now has some level of chance, pending Sunrise approval, via Kickstarter. So, Wing, G, Zeta proper.they're probably not going to be touched. First off, anything requires the approval of Sunrise, but after that, here's the situation: Something with a decent pre-existing dub, so long as it doesn't have to be reworked into recut footage (like SEED/Destiny Remastered or Escaflowne), is pretty unlikely to see a new dub. Soma, here's what I've read and heard about dubs going forward. On the other hand, I would have said the same thing about Gundam Seed/Destiny before this news, so who knows? Kind of wish they dubbed some of the rightstuff releases.I also wonder if this means some of the older Gundam dubs could get a new one? Personally I would love a Zeta redub since those voices always fell flat for me.but G-Gundam and Wing are pretty iconic. I also wonder if this means some of the older Gundam dubs could get a new one? In the end, I'm excited to get a version that will hopefully be on bluray.Īnyway, what do you guys think? I am a Seed fan so consider me tentatively excited, but I can imagine this could be exasperating for some of you. I liked the remaster, despite how it reconned a few things (Kira now accidentally killing Nicol is the most egregious in my opinion), but it fixed animation errors and removed a lot of the stock footage. Even if I hate the new dub, the sub version is still there. Kind of wish they dubbed some of the rightstuff releases, but I think this move makes sense. Thought it was okay to create a new thread since the old remaster threads .Īnyway, I was surprised to see no one had made a thread about this because I thought this was interesting: Sunrise is going to (re)release Gundam Seed & Gundam Seed Destiny with a new English dub for the remastered versions.
